Mixed moods

- Yesterday Daniel Blumberg was the trend of our RSS. He won an Oscar for his Brutalist's soundtrack. We met during the Daniel Johnston exhibition in Madrid. He played a few songs with Jad Fair and Norman Blake using one of my Doorag instruments. Nickie Divine shot this portrait on stage and I traded the photo for the frame. We met again in Cafe Oto where we were playing. Mark Pawson was also there. It was nice to see friendly faces in a posh venue. Mark was the graphzine's dealer in London. I knew him from the fanzine's fairs and used to send him ¡Qué Suerte! for sales across the channel. Yesterday I also learnt that he passed away at the same time. Those mixed emotions of pride and sadness generate a strange feeling of peaceful resignation. And while my synapsis connected the amalgam from heart to soul, Servando sent me an e-mail, asking if I agreed to score the soundtrack for his next "Brutalistas" podcast. The meatball is fried and I wonder why all those events have to happen at the same time. Daniel won the glory, Mark: eternity, and I'll change the batteries of my Doorags to honor the engagement.
