- J'ai dû fabriquer 350 doorags avant de tomber sur le plus classique des circuits intégrés. Rencontre fortuite, agenouillé au marché aux puces; je pause la mains sur le fameux Speak & Spell de Texas Instruments pour un prix raisonnable. Coup de bol, c'est la version Grillo Parlante qui me permet de bidouiller le premier microchip de synthèse vocale avec l'accent italien. E.T. peut retourner chez lui, j'ai rendez-vous avec Pinocchio. Le jouet fonctionne avec 3 circuits intégrés; plein de petites pattes pour court-circuiter le vocabulaire du grillon philosophe. Aprés une longue recherche des points vulnérables les plus exquis, je limite la greffe à deux interrupteurs et un potentiomètre jumelés à quelques discrètes résistances. Lifting plastique pour la photogénie et nous voilà partir pour chanter faux au prochain concert.

Ana da Silva was trying to bent a Speak & Spell toy. She sent me a message wondering for tricks, but I was unable to help her. I've been bending toys for years and never had the opportunity to autopsy such a classic. I was lucky enough to find an Italian version last week for a decent price at the flea market, and sharp enough not to burn the circuit. I also shaped a a new box to look different from the zillions Speak & Spells gigging around the scene.
- Dicen que E.T. el extraterrestre inventó el circuit-bending para salir del armario donde lo tenían recluido. Tuneo este juguete Speak & Spell para expresar su ansia de volver a casa. Por suerte conseguí una versión Italiana del cacharro y tengo un "Grillo Parlante" de corista para acompañar mi próximo concierto. La oscura moraleja de Pinocchio encaja mejor con mis inquietudes comparada con el accidentado retorno del emigrante galáctico.
